Have Mobile Phones and email changed the way we write?-Year 7

August 9th, 2006 by wedderburn in Uncategorized · 1 Comment

With lots of students now getting mobile phones, texting and using email , one of the things that teachers have noticed is that people are using a shortened way to write to each other.

Do you think that this matters. Go to this article and read it. http://www.cbc.ca/montreal/story/qc-text20050321.html

Then comment on your blog about whether you think that this is becoming a problem in schools where you are still expected to write with correct English spelling and grammar. short_wire050321.jpg
You may write your comments in abbreviations as long as we can understand your message.

Working on Our Digital Portfolios

July 23rd, 2006 by wedderburn in Uncategorized · No Comments

Year 7’s are working on their digital portfolios today and have a deadline in two weeks to have the outline of their portfolio completed. Teachers at school know about the blogs and they are starting to plan what will be added to the portfolio by their students.

This year we focussed on making sure that all the structure and navigations worked clearly before students got into the bells and whistles of the Portfolio. This has worked very well and has meant that the portfolios function very well.

Miss Hodges and I are very impressed with the way some of the portfolios are looking. The designs and navigations look really cool.
